Biography
Dr. Aidan Duane is the Programme Director for the new Bachelor of Business in Business Information Systems (BIS) launched in September 2021.
Aidan graduated with a PhD (2009) and an MSc (1999) in Information Systems by Research from University College Cork. Aidan also graduated with an MEd in Teaching and Learning with Distiction from Waterford Institute of Technology in 2022.
Aidan specialises in Programming, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Data Modelling and Analytics.
Aidan is a Lead Research Supervisor for the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), the Master in Business (MBS), and the Master of Science (MSc). In 2017, Aidan was awarded the WIT Excellence in Postgraduate Supervision award. Aidan was also shortlisted for the 2015 and 2021 Teaching Excellence Award.
Aidan previously served as a Workshop Lead for 10 years on the DBA. Aidan also served as the External Examiner for the UCC, GMIT, DBS and NCI while also serving on new programme evaluations committees for QQI. Previously, Aidan also held the posts of Programme Director for the MSc in Global Financial Information Systems. He also served as a School of Business Board Member at WIT. Aidan also served as a Director at the Waterford Leader Partnership (WLP). Aidan also worked as an investigator on the B-MIDEA Software Project, co-hosted by WIT and University College Cork (UCC), and funded by Enterprise Ireland
Aidan has presented and published his research in over 50 international journals and conferences including the International Journal of Information Management (IJIM), Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Electronic Markets (EM), Behaviour and Information Technology (BIT), the VINE Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems, the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), the European Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), and the Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS).
