Darrin commenced as a Lecturer in Management at WIT School of Business in September 2004. He lectures in Lean leadership and management thinking and practice, change, and continuous improvement across several executive/practitioner programmes, including the Executive MBA, the Master of Business Studies in Lean Enterprise Excellence,  the Diploma in Lean Fundamentals, and the Diploma in Supervisory Practice. Darrin supervises Master's research dissertations in Lean, Change, and Continuous Improvement, that encompass diverse public and private organisations, a range of organisational sizes and scales, and various sectors, including services, manufacturing, medical device, pharma, healthcare, and construction. He is a regular contributor to Lean conferences, seminars, and network events.

Joint Programme Director of the WIT Lean Enterprise and Operational Excellence portfolio of executive/practitioner programmes, which were co-designed and co-developed with industry and other stakeholders to provide practical and applied higher education programmes for executives and practitioners and fulfill the demand nationally and internationally for graduates with Lean knowledge, know-how, know-why, and skills.


Faculty Member of the RIKON Research Centre and Principal Lead of its Academy of Lean Enterprise Excellence.


Faculty Member of LI4 DAC ("Lean Industry 4.0"), a WIT initiative funded by Enterprise Ireland under the Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) 2017-2020. Darrin co-led the development, promotion, and presentation of this successfully funded initiative alongside RIKON Co-Chair, Dr Pat Lynch.


Prior to entering academia, Darrin worked for over a decade as an operations manager in the private sector as well as in consultancy.

Collaborating extensively with industry and government, Darrin has been integral to the development and advancement of the national Lean ecosystem. He is a Co-Founder and Leadership Committee Member of Lean Business Ireland, and Co-Chair of the South East Lean Network - Ireland's first and longest-running regional Lean network - and he advised on the establishment of the other six regional Lean networks across Ireland which are at the core of the LBI national community.

Darrin played a key role in Lean Construction Ireland (LCi), 2015-2022, including acting as Special Advisor to the LCi Board of Directors and the LCi Client Forum. His core contribution was as Lead of the LCi Capability Development Pillar which encompassed being developer and Editor of the LCi Annual Book of Cases 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021; Project Lead of a team of national and international subject matter experts that designed and developed the LCi Course Portfolio standardised suite of White, Yellow, and Green Belt Courses; and as primary developer of the LCi Website. (Both the LCi Book and Portfolio are global first-of-kind initiatives in the construction sector.)
