Dr Leana Reinl, IRC-Marie Curie Fellow and Lecturer in Enterprise at the School of Business has a deep interest in entrepreneurial and small business management and development. Leana’s Masters by research, PhD and postdoctoral research each explored learning and small business management capability development and directly contributed to the design and execution of research-led intellectual development programmes, incorporating partnered projects with full-time students and small business owners.
Having significant international experience in management and business development research, Leana is a member of the RIKON research group and leads the Management Practice & Business Development Academy which embeds management capability development, social exchange and business network theories in co-created action-based research to provide research-informed insight for and in sustainable practice in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in rural and urban contexts. Eight research students are embedded in this academy, studying a cross-section of management practice and business development theories. Key prior research projects under the Academy include the INTERREG GIFT project and the Tourism Learning Network (TLN) initiative in addition to research funding from Irish Research Council, Marie Curie, IoTI, Strand 1, Fáilte Ireland, SERD. Circa €5 m. Research disseminated in internationally renowned Small Business and Tourism journals including 3 papers in Tourism Management, a four-star journal, as well as the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, Hospitality & Society, and the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation
