Biography

Dr. Mitra Abedini got her PhD in Medical Nanotechnology in 2018. Her PhD thesis was on designing, fabricating and optimising an optical biosensor based on surface plasmon resonance. After her PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher on computational modelling evaluation of photo-thermal therapy efficacy based on nanoparticles in prostate tumours using Finite element method in the department of biomedical engineering and medical physics at Shahid Beheshti University of medical sciences, Tehran, Iran.

Besides, she was involved in other projects in the bio-photonic lab for differentiation of biological tissues based on polarization properties (Muller matrix imaging) and detection of microorganisms using laser diffraction.

Then she joined PMBRC in 2021 as a development scientist to work on designing and fabricating an optical sensor for marine toxin detection.

Current Research Projects:

She is now working on immobilization and imaging of antigen-antibody on silicon surfaces, modelling and experimental research on lithography of nanohole arrays on fused fibre optic faceplate to fabricate a biosensor to detect marine toxins.
