Best overall presentation at the 5th British Bat Research Symposium

This talk detailed the importance of studying bat diet in order to inform conservation of both the lesser horseshoe bat and the insects that form part of its diet. Using DNA metabarcoding (detection of multiple species/taxa from a single DNA extract using a standardised region of DNA) we were able to reveal the diet of the lesser horseshoe bat using non-invasively collected faecal pellets.
