Energy saving in WBAN networks under rate constraints

Abstract

One of the most challenges in wireless technology is to design new algorithms for low power devices without loosing performances in term of quality of service. Wireless Body Area Network(WBAN) is a short range communication technology used in medical telemetry and healthcare, on body sensors sends collected measurements via radio interface. We propose in our paper a method that enhances energy consumption based mainly on body posture and sensor activity to increase battery life without degradation of the main QoS. We start by modelling the different levels of device's state and user's posture using transition matrix. Then, we formulate mathematically the constrained optimization problem, we compare between theoretical results and simulations as well.
