High brightness semiconductor lasers by inhomogeneous pumping

Abstract

Semiconductor laser structures and resonators were developed to suppress filamentation and high order transverse mode oscillation. Tailoring the transverse and longitudinal gain profiles to match the desired modes resulted in brightness enhancement and overall efficiency improvement.
