Two types of microparticles based on alginate and chitosan with encapsulated ciprofloxacine (CF) were prepared directly, by ionic exchange. The particles were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and analyzed by termogravimetric techniques. The FTIR specters indicated the presence of the polymer-drug complex obtained via electrostatic interactions between polymer and ciprofloxacin ionized groups. Moreover, termogravimetric analysis showed a modified stability of the obtained complexes in comparison with the free drug and polymers. The release studies of ciprofloxacin from the two types of microparticles were carried out at different pH values between 2.13 and 10.80. The kinetic curves showed a complex behavior. The results of the release test for the two types of microparticles (chitosan/CF and alginate/CF) revealed that CF was totally released at pH=9.18 after 72 hours of elution.
