Abstract
The diffraction of regular water waves by an array of uniform vertical circular cylinders in a channel is considered using a linear wave theory. This extends the existing channel theories which are limited to single cylinders. Solutions are obtained numerically using the Boundary Element Method and these are compared with their open sea equivalents. The channel walls are shown to have a profound influence on all the quantities of interest.
